Starting July 1, 2018, animal facilities within WSU will begin transitioning to centralized management under the Office of the Campus Veterinarian in the Office of Research.

Two external reviews conducted in fall 2016 concluded improvements were needed and suggested centralization of the facilities would make them more service-oriented and efficient while meeting the needs of the animal research community.

Currently, the facilities are separately managed by each department or college but are being transitioned into the centralized model.

“We are excited for this opportunity to continue excellence in animal care and to better support research enterprise at WSU,” said Dr. Nina Woodford, the director of the Office of Campus Veterinarian, who will lead the new centralized system.

This transition will be implemented in stages.
