I, Daniel Blake: International Film Showcase Series for February

The WSU International Center presents “I, Daniel Blake” at 5:30 p.m. today in Todd Hall, Room 130.

The film is about Daniel Blake, a 59-year-old widowed carpenter who must receive welfare to support himself after a heart attack leaves him unable to go back to work.

Winner of 2016 Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival. Daniel Blake, a 59-year-old widowed carpenter who must receive welfare to support himself after a heart attack leaves him unable to go back to work.

Despite his doctor’s diagnosis, the British government denies Blake’s benefits and tells him to find something else. Depsite a difficult situation and a problem in societal structure one ordinary man is going through, he strives to lead his life with warmth and patience.

Admission is free and open to the public.
